Extinguisher Service & Maintenance

Servicing and Maintaining of Fire Extinguishers is a vital part of Fire Protection. Not only does it ensure that your extinguishers are usable when they are most needed, it is also a legal requirement to ensure that your extinguishers are serviced and maintained. British Standard BS 5306 outlines the requirements for servicing and maintaining fire extinguishing installations.

A well serviced and maintained fire extinguisher can save lives and your property from a fire. There are two parts to servicing and maintaining your fire extinguishers. These are:

Servicing

Inspecting the fire extinguisher and ensuring that is in the correct location, of the correct type, and charged to the correct level. This vital service ensures that the fire extinguisher available is ready for use in the event that it is needed. This is in line with BS 5306-9:2015

Maintaining

Inspecting the fire extinguisher to ensure that all parts are free from damage or defect, and replacing any parts as necessary. This includes the handles, pressure gauges, nozzles, safety pins, indicator pins, extinguisher body, signage and much more. This is in line with BS 5306-3:2009.
