Testing
In some cases, the alarm sounder must be tested upto weekly to ensure that it is fully functioning. Regardless of the size of the property or site, annual testing of the alarm is required by law as a very minimum. Some insurance companies may impose tighter testing routines or frequencies though. Landlords
Legislation came into force in 2015 which puts the responsibility on landlords to install working Smoke Detectors and working Carbon Monoxide Detectors in any property in which they rent out, which includes Private Landlords renting out to the Private Rental sector. This change to legislation makes it law that any landlord complies. It also means that the majority, if not all, Landlord Insurance Providers would render any insurance policy invalid should the property not comply if a claim is made.
